Undertaken by a young environmentalist and agronomist without any funding from the private or public sector, William Cinéa rented the space to pursue his dream of developing a very attractive botanical garden that would not only welcome visitors, but also be an educational and scientific research place where students, families, teachers would make a rich learning experience.
William Cinéa's project was inspired after visiting many botanical gardens overseas during his studies and came into reality with the voluntary support of some young agronomists who share the same vision of granting Haiti with a national botanical garden. Since its opening a few years ago, the founder of this magnificent project has only received the support of visitors and some peoples living in the diaspora.
Being aware of the educational aspect of this promising endeavor, they are members of the world botanic gardens network and look forward to finding more plants for conservation as well as adding more infrastructures to the site besides their department of research, education, horticulture, planning, and marketing. They are also motivated to look for nationwide and worldwide support in order to mobilize funds toward buying definitely the land and making Les Cayes Botanical Garden a national heritage for Haiti.
